The topic was the 108 Feelings.

Meditation on feelings part 2

How did people feel when reflecting on feelings last week?
Did they gain any insight or a new perspective with last weeks information?

Some students did not know certain Buddhist terms
Samsara and karma
karma is an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth, or an act that has been done and the fruit of that act (good or evil). Karma follows you through lifetimes for example if you kill someone it may catch you this lifetime or next lifetime.

Discussion on feelings

June 13th Dharma Discussion on feelings

Thầy Chúc Thanh started:

We can meditate in any posture
We inherit good and bad genes, good and bad habits from our parents.
If we change ourselves we help our parents and the next generation.
We can connect with our ancestors and see further into the future just from being mindful of the body.
If we practice well, good thoughts, words, and deeds we can share that with past and future generations.

Mindfulness of the Body

Notes from the Dharma Talk, Monday, May 23, 2011

Dong Hung Buddhist Temple English Language Service

Mark Palamara, May27, 2011

The Venerable Thich Chuc Hoi presided.

Matt McDonald researched and presented “Mindfulness of the Body.”

Chuc Hoi asked the group “How do you feel when you meditate?” The responses included: “Sometimes really relaxed”; “it depends on the circumstances”; “I meditate in the morning and in the evening to start and end my day”; “ I feel peace, clarity, harmony”; “relieves tension”; “meditate to fall asleep”. William shared that when thoughts invade your concentration when meditating, take them and release them. Meditation can actually become a “24 by 7” routine with practice. There is no right or wrong way to meditate-just focus the best you can.
