Regarding the Ullambana Celebration of 2010

Respected Sangha, Buddhist fellows, friends and family:

It’s said that:

“Ullambana season, the time that reminds of Father’s labor for our existence.

And filial piety occasion, time to remember Mother’s sweet love year rounds”

When the Ullambana season returns, it reminds the Buddhist followers to practice the filial piety towards our parents. Đông Hưng Temple will hold a great Ullambana Day 2010 on August 29, 2010 (Sunday) which will be celebrated at two locations:

- At Dong Hưng Temple at 10:30 am: with chanting of the Ullambana Sutra, blessing and food offering ceremony to our many generational ancestors.

- At the Philippine Cultural Center starting at 5:30 pm: with “Pinning a Rose” tradition, which commemorates our parents’ hard work to bring us to life and raise us. And an entertainment section with the theme “Parents’ Grace” performed by singer Quoc Khanh, Phuong Hong Thuy and many local entertainers.

This year, we also have a special fund-raising named “merit lottery” which sponsors the Ullambana event. We would like to ask all of you to participate in this action to bring success to our event.

Asides from the main events on said date, from the beginning of the Seventh lunar month, we will chant the Earth Store Sutra daily, to seek peace for all sentient beings and free of suffering for the deceased. If you would like to forward merits to your family members, please send your family member list of names to the temple, we will include them in our rituals at each chanting session.

We would like to invite all of you to come to the Temple to celebrate with us. Best wishes to you and your family!
