Our first Dharma Talk and Brunch at the new Kempsville location

We had our first Dharma Talk and Brunch at the new Kempsville location on Saturday, February 20th. We began with a 10 minute meditation and a chant, “Nammo a di da phat.” Our discussion was based on the reading, “ Sitting Every day” and our dedication to follow the Dhamma. Our teacher, Thay Chuc Thanh led the discussion with the importance of meditation and how it directly effects our lives.  We also talked about the next English service and what thoughts we had on incorporating chanting, music, and meditation.

After Dharma talk we shared a delicious Vietnamese lunch. Steven’s son, Marcus baked yummy homemade ginger snaps.  We sat around the table and talked some more about what has been happening in our lives  - friendly, fun conversation. We learned that when taking Refuge, we become brothers and sisters under our teacher. In this case, the Buddhist teacher/master is Thay Chuc Thanh. No matter what age, race, or gender we become brothers and sisters supporting each other in following the Dhamma.

After lunch, we helped clean up. Some stayed behind to view the bell or large pieces of furniture that now adorn the new Temple. Many of these pieces were stored away at the former Temple.

We look forward to the next Dharma Talk and Brunch. Hopefully, we will see you there!

A di da phat!
