Ven. Chuc Thanh and Mark traveled to Southern Shores, NC for the NC Dharma talk on December 5, 2016.

We opened the session with meditation followed by chanting the Metta and Heart sutras.  Thay Thanh directed a metta meditation period.

One of the NC sangha members distributed Santa hats for the group in celebration of our 12th visit to Southern Shores, completing our first year of bringing the dharma to the OBX.

The discussion started talking about dealing with personal conflicts.  We talked about how practicing the dharma helps us deal with triggering issues when people “push our buttons.” Chuc Thanh reviewed the Five Precepts with the group.

Chuc Thanh reminded us that only love changes people, not punishment.  Punishment is short term while love is long term.

Kyle ended the evening with some music.  We will return to the fourth Tuesday of the month visitation schedule beginning in January 2017.
